Patron
Pawel Wlodkowic, the University's patron, was born in Brudzen on the Skrwa River around 1370 and died in 1435. He was a Płock Canon, lawyer, writer and diplomat. in addition to being a President of the Academy of Cracow and a representative of the Polish King to the Council in Constance. He found fame as a champion of the battle against the policy of hatred propagated by the Teutonic Knights. He fought for freedom and peace and was a pioneer of the European IUS Gentium.
Medal
The Pawel Wlodkowic Medal is awarded by the Chapter of Pawel Wlodkowic University College in Płock. It was awarded for the first time in the Jubilee Year 2000, during a formal inauguration of the academic year 2000/2001. It is the highest distinction awarded by the University to:
- academic teachers for outstanding achievements in their scientific and didactic work;
- graduates and students of the University for extraordinary achievements in science and student activities;
- academic teachers from other schools, social activists, founders and other persons contributing to the development and promotion of Pawel Wlodkowic University College in Płock.
